These last ten days have been a blur. I’ve been on automatic pilot for most of the time – doing what I need to do but not really being engaged or feeling connected with much of it. There will be a blog post at some point to explain what’s happened to those of you who don’t yet know, but for now I just don’t have the words.
In the midst of the numbness I have made a superhuman effort to notice the positive things, the little moments of joy, the beauty in the ordinary everyday. Here’s what I found:
Day 342: Today we said goodbye to Vera, my husband’s Nan. A very sad day. Yellow roses were her favourite, so these have pride of place on our kitchen table
Day 343: Someone has creatively adapted a no-entry sign on Harley Street. Sometimes it’s the little things that make you smile the most, especially when you spot them whilst on a walk with your Mum, who came up to London especially to see you during the one hour break in between clients just to give you a hug.
Day 344: Seeing how proud Mimi felt of herself after working hard to build this house (complete with roof garden) out of Lego, all by herself.
Day 347: I introduced Ella to ‘The Hobbit’ today as she has run out of things to read. Can’t wait to re-experience the magic along with her.
Day 348: The first day of half term dawned cold, grey and dreary…so we headed to the cinema to see the Shaun The Sheep Movie. It was Mimi and Lola’s first ever cinematic experience (Ella’s 3rd). Verdict? Thumbs up!
Day 350: A gorgeously sunny day in London and I had the chance to go fro a stroll round Regents Park in between clients. That light!
