As Women’s Wellness Week draws to a close, here is my fifth and final tip on how to #bekindtoyou:
“I haven’t got time!” is something I hear people say a lot. Personally I work very hard to not to say those words myself. Mainly because I know that if it was important enough to me I would find a way to make the time, or I would reorganise my priorities. There is always enough time.
One thing I’ll admit that I’m not very good at doing though, is making time for myself. I rarely sit and read, or paint my nails. The last time I had a bubble bath was just after I’d given birth to my youngest daughter (nearly 4 years ago!). I’m usually doing two or three things at once, and don’t tend to sit down until the end of the day once the girls are in bed. Even then I’m usually to be found answering emails or preparing for clients.
Making time for ourselves is vital for our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Even 5 minutes out of our day can be the difference that makes the difference.
So today’s tip is to take 5 minutes out of your day and do something just for you. Use those 5 minutes wisely. Sit down and enjoy a cup of tea (or, if you’re anything like me, a mug of hot chocolate!). Read a chapter of your book. Have extra time in the shower. Have a cuddle with your son or daughter.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure it’s for you.
Of course being kind to ourselves shouldn’t be limited to just one week of the year. Make it a daily practice to do one thing to #bekindtoyou and you might surprise yourself with how much better you could start to find yourself feeling as the days, weeks and months go by.
I’d love to hear your thoughts about this little mini-series of blogs, and if you’ve got any tips of your own about how to #bekindtoyou, please do feel free to share them below.
