I came across this on Facebook and thought I’d share it with you (because sometimes a bit of wisdom on a Wednesday is exactly what we all need):
Seems obvious really, doesn’t it?
Sometimes though, it’s not that easy. At times when life takes us by surprise for example, and suddenly and unexpectedly everything changes. I’m sure you can all think of a time in your life when it’s happened to you – a death, a redundancy, a break-up…
The ironic thing is that even though it’s the last thing we feel like doing, taking care of ourselves during difficult times is one of the most important things we can do.
I know this. Mainly because in the past I’ve forgotten to look after myself and instead focused all of my attention on making sure everyone else is ok, only to crash and burn further down the line when I’ve run out of everything I have to give.
I’ve learnt my lesson and now, if life knocks me sideways, I make sure I do the things I need to do to keep me ok – the things that are good for my soul:
How about this for an idea though… What if we made the choice to look after ourselves, and do the things that are good for our soul on a daily basis, regardless of whether we are going through a difficult time or not? What if doing what’s good for our soul just became a part of how we are in the world?
It’s a pretty awesome thought, isn’t it?
I’d love to find out your experiences around this, so please do feel free to leave a comment below letting me know what you do that’s good for your soul.
I look forward to hearing from you soon 🙂
