Women’s Wellness Week continues, so here is my second tip of the week to help you #bekindtoyou…
Fashion is everywhere. Magazines, TV, the office, the school gates, even the supermarket. I’ve never considered myself to be particularly fashionable. I’m a jeans-vest-top-cardi-and-boots kind of a woman. For me, being comfortable in what I wear is far more important than owning the latest designer label or following the latest trend.
Sometimes I do secretly wish I had that knack that some women seem to have for putting an outfit together, or finishing off a look off with the right accessories. I’m getting there slowly (with the help of Pinterest!), but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do it effortlessly (well, without ending up with a heap of clothes discarded in frustration on my bed every morning).
The thing is though, some of the women I see tottering down the street in sky-high heels, or wearing skinny jeans so skinny that they can’t possibly be able to breathe, just don’t look comfortable. Don’t get me wrong – I’m absolutely not passing judgment in any way shape or form. I completely believe that women should wear whatever they want. I’m just quietly questioning their reasons for wearing those clothes in the first place.
We all want to look good, mainly because if we think we look good, we feel better inside, and that is what is important. I think some women dress for other people rather than themselves. And that’s a shame.
Because in my opinion nothing looks better than a woman who is relaxed and comfortable in what she’s wearing.
Why?
Because (to me) that means she’s relaxed and comfortable with who she is.
If you’re happy wearing sky high heels, or skinny jeans that you can’t breathe in, and you’re wearing them for you – carry on. If you’re wearing them because maybe you’re inwardly seeking validation or approval from others, or perhaps because you want to fit in, or any reason other than simply because you like them and you want to…stop now.
Give yourself a break.
#bekindtoyou.
Wear whatever makes you feel good.
